CAREERS

Many people define the world “career” as the job, occupation , or vocation a person has. This definition is not complete yet. A career includes the job or series of jobs a person has until retirement. It also involves the effect of a person’s career on a person’s life.

Almost every adult has a career to help them satisfy certain goals. The goals might be earning a living or helping others. The best known career develops around work for pay. Most if the workers in such a career hold a job to support them selves and their family. However, there are people who build a career around activities for which they receive no money.

The kind of career you have can affect your life in a great numbers of ways. For examples, it can determine where you live and the friends you make. You career also shows the education you have and can estimate the amount of money you earn. Your career can also affect the way you feel about yourself and the way other people act toward you. By making wise career decisions you can thus help your self build the life you want.

Important career decisions include choosing a career field and deciding how you want your career to develop. You also have to decide when selecting and preparing for the types of jobs that will advance your career. Knowing your abilities, interest, and goals gives you a foundation on which to base your career decisions. Having a broad knowledge of the world of work can help you find job possibilities that suit your abilities, interest and goals.
